Many churches will write statements that guide them into the future. We believe the power of these statements is in the commitment of the church body and its leaders to act upon the calling God has given them.
After we understood what God was calling us to do, the next step was to write a document to share with others and hold us accountable. Listed below is our Purpose, Mission and Vision statement along with our Rationale for Selecting the Family as our Priority Ministry. Our goal is to glorify Him by being obedient to our calling, to reach families for Christ.
Statement of Purpose, Mission and Vision for Crossview Church
Purpose - The purpose of Crossview Church is to introduce people to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, to encourage them to accept His gift of salvation, and to help them become His disciples, introducing others to Him.
Mission - The mission of Crossview Church, growing out of the purpose statement, is to reach out and make disciples by addressing the needs of families within our community.
Vision - The vision of Crossview Church, enabling it to fulfill its purpose and mission, will be accomplished by giving priority emphasis and attention to the following tasks. We will, with the Lord’s help:
- Be led by a Senior Pastor and staff with a passionate vision for reaching and ministering to families.
- Train and equip the body to accomplish our mission;
- Design our ministry to families in the areas of Worship, Instruction, Fellowship, Evangelism and Service;
- Teach and encourage families to become the support structure God intended them to be;
- Change our church governing structure to simplify decision making in order to reach and minister to families; with greater efficiency and excellence;
- Teach and model stewardship in order to maximize resources to support our mission;
- Allocate funds in order to facilitate our mission;
A Rationale for Selecting the Family as Our Priority Ministry
We believe today’s family is under attack as never before. The family as God designed it is comprised of husband and wife, committed to each other in marriage for life, and their children. Today, however, divorce is both permitted and even encouraged in our culture. This results in many one-parent and blended families. Also, our culture is increasingly giving its approval to alternative life-styles. For these reasons, marriage and family have become an “uphill battle” for many. In a struggle to simply survive, numerous families give little if any attention to how God can help families to succeed.
We believe God has called us as a church body to make disciples (Our Purpose) by ministering to families (Our Mission) with intentionality (Our Vision). Just as Jesus Christ has created and gifted individuals for a special ministry, He has equipped and gifted Crossview Church to help families to both learn and apply God’s timeless principles for successful marriage and rewarding family life.
